In Loving Memory

As you can see my sister-in-law was lovely
and full of life. She was an inspiration to many.
She is survived by my her
husband, three children, 2 grandchildren,
her brother and Mother.

There are two separate investigations underway.
It is believed by most so far that this was
a preventable accident.

Here are some facts:

*The boat was 22 feet long
*It's capacity was 12 people
*14 people were on board
*Alcohol was found on board
*Witnesses saw boat occupants
drinking prior to boarding the boat.
*The boat crashed into a moored tug
boat at a speed of 30-35 MPH
*5 people were killed
*3 people were critically injured

They now believe that my SIL was driving
the boat.

They say she was driving because she was the
only one who could drive that wasn't
INTOXICATED.

The alcohol level in her blood was very low.

If the owner of this boat had acted responsibly,
and been the designated driver for his OWN
boat, this tragedy could have been avoided.

They still are not sure what actually caused
the boat to wreck.

Here is a photo of the boat after they pulled
it from the water.

Friends, if you enjoy an occasional alcoholic beverage,
PLEASE drink in the safety of your own home, and
don't put you or others at risk.

Families are shattered today because of this
boat owner's lack of personal responsibility.

Please pray for all of the families that have lost
a loved one in this tragic accident.
A couple were quite young.
We all should endeavor to...

LIVE AND TEACH
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!
I thank you all once again for your loving
thoughts and prayers.

You are such a blessing to me.
Words seem insufficient to express what's
in my heart...
Love to you all,
Becky

  2. Just tragic. Last year there was a similar boating accident that happened on a lake close to where we live.

It's so frustrating knowing that these things could be prevented if people would just be more responsible and take people's lives seriously.

I'll be praying for the family.

    Blessings,
    Mandy

  10. So sad. A little bit went a long way or too far in this case. I'm sorry you lost your SIL not forgetting the others killed and injured. I guess what makes it so hard to accept, was a little prevention could've saved some lives. There's a lesson we all can use more of.

She was beautiful! Bless her husband and children.
I lost my dad to a drunk driver at too young of an age and it left such agony and pain for those left behind.

  17. Wow, that is so tragic. We many times don't realize the fragilness of our lives until someone close to us dies, especially in an accident. My prayers continue to go out to you and your family that this loss of your sister-in-law will draw each one a little closer to the Lord. Take care dear friend. Love, Elena

  18. Oh my goodness Becky, I am so sorry for your loss. How sad to think that it could have been avoided. Again I am so sorry to hear of this.
You and your family are in my prayers.
Thank you for always asking about my brother.
He is doing ok. He is not lonesome. Widows never are. But it will take a real gem to replace my sister-in-law.
    Hugs

  19. Wow, Becky. I just got caught up on all of the news about your SIL. I'm so sorry. I'll be praying for your family and her family, that they'll find peace through all this. It seems as though people just don't realize the damage alcohol can do if you're out driving a car, boat, etc. There was an accident recently here where 4 people were killed, 2 were children. Only one survived in the car and he was only 10 years old. He lost his mother and best friend. The driver of the other car survived, he was intoxicated well above the limit. So sad.

  20. So so sad. Dh's extended family has a boat and they take it out on the lake for holidays. I've always been adamant about my daughters *not* going out on the boat during those times since I know that not only are some of the people on the boat drinking, but I know others on the very crowded lake are as well. After reading this, I know my worries aren't unfounded.

I'm so sorry that such a tragedy has had to happen so close to home for you and also affect so many other lives in the process...

  21. You are still in my heart and prayers. Thank you for the gentle reminder. I think some people take it for granted...this precious life we are given. You are right, people do need to take responsibility. Nothing is harder to deal with than something as senseless as what happened. I'm glad you have faith and such a good pure heart, you are an inspiration!
