Birdy Update and This and That!!

HI SWEETIES!!

As most of you know, we had a lovely little
Carolina Wren (named Wendy) build a nest and lay her
eggs in this flower pocket on one of my front doors.

Well, we're sad to report that it is now 5
weeks later and she never hatched her eggs.

When Wendy was flying in and out, the flower
pocket would stay crooked on the door.
One day my Mother-in-Law came and picked it
up and straightened it not knowing there was a
nest in it. We believe that caused Wendy to
abandon the nest.

Today I very carefully removed the nest so I
could show Maddy, and the girls in our Keeper's
at Home Club.

It is so precious. I am so amazed at all the different
things they use to construct their nests!!
I'm even more amazed when I try to fathom how God
programs all of this neat behavior into His
creations!! TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Here are a few different views:

From the side

Hopefully next spring we will be able to have
a little birdy family to observe and enjoy!!

SUBJECT CHANGE #1

Here are a couple of pics of the decorations for the
bridal shower for Mallory's friend.
They were on a budget, so it is very simple, but we
liked how it turned out.
My contribution was the use of our home, decorating,
and the potted Mandevilla. (which will be planted this
weekend along the fence in the backyard.)

The party favors and prizes one of the bridesmaids
bought; bath salts and heart-shaped cookie cutters
filled with chocolate hearts (in the basket)

SUBJECT CHANGE #2

The installation of our lovely new carpet!! YAY!!

We found such a bargain, and got 3 rooms and
the hallway for what 2 other people would have
charged us for just 2 rooms!!
GOD IS SO GOOD!!
Finished, and Maddy pooped out on the sofa!!

I know that sofa isn't Tuscan, but it was FREE!!!
And is top of the line!! We'll make it work!!

SUBJECT CHANGE #3
And last of all, my slate girl is finally in the niche!
You can read about the history behind this
artwork by clicking here.

One problem, though! I am not happy with
the background color in the niche!!

I'm thinking about either a lighter or darker
green than what is on the wall.

What do you think?? Please share!!

I am in search of a small sideboard or table
of some sort to put below the niche. I want
something nice and I want a bargain!!
I'll let you know what I find!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit me
today!! You make each of my days a little
BRIGHTER!!
Love 'n Joy,
Becky

You know that I am in love with that nest absolutely gorgeous...Yes, the Lord did indeed create wonderful little nest builders!

I would say the couch is pretty close to tuscan with it's rich earthy color tones of wood and fabric.

For some reason but not to sure how it would look maybe a earthy brown in the niche.

Looking forward to seeing your home as you work on it!!

    Love ya girl!!
    Hugs~T

  2. First of all...the nest...do you think you could very carefully blow those eggs out? They would be beautiful in a display? Secondly...the table for the shower looks lovely and so does your new carpet.

    Stay Cozy, Carrie

  3. BECKY, I am sorry to hear about your baby birdies. But what a learning experience... I love the new floor and couch.... I think the niche would look nice in a dark brown or cranberry.... Loving thoughts... Jaime

  4. What a sweet little nest......and great new carpet! Yipppee! Nothing like new carpeting to make EVERYTHING look all new.

Thank you soooooo much for praying for my daughter. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. I'm so amazed and thrilled at the community of Christian women I've met through blogging who lift one another up in prayer. It's wonderful.

Sending hugs and blessings to you and yours!

  5. It's Mother nature amazing? The nest is beutiful, and so delicate, yet so sturdy. I had somthing similar happen to a birds nest...when they saw people were too close by, the abandon ship. I still have the nest in a cabinet.

Congrats on new carpeting...how exciting! I think since the carpet and sofa look like they are a warmer tone, and the shade of green looks like it is a cooler tone, to switch the niche color. I always have a tendency to stay monochromatic, so you could do something "Pecan" by Eddie Bauer sold at Lowe's. They probably don't have a paint chip, but have it in their computer. You could also do a soft terracota for some contrast...that would be very Tuscan-esque!

  8. Hi my friend, Loved all the pic's. I'm a bird fan so loved seeing the nest with the egss. Also, what a wonderful table setting for the shower. What a beautiful tablecloth! Loved seeing pic's of your home-it is so beautiful just like you. I too think a brown or dark tan for your niche. Love you taste. Have a blessed weekend. Love you.

  9. HI DEAR FRIEND.
SORRY ABOUT THE BIRDS, I HAD WONDERED ABOUT THEM.
AS FOR THE CARPET, LOVE IT!!! CONGRATS.
AS FOR THE PAINT COLOR: I THINK A DARKER COLOR OF GREEN (LIKE A HUNTER) OR A BROWN WOULD BE PRETTY BEHIND IT. YOU COULD PAINT AN OLD BOARD OR SOMETHING AND HOLD IT UP AGAINST IT TO SEE WHICH IS BETTER.
    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
WHAT A SPECIAL BLOGGIN' BUDDY YOU ARE TO ME. (YOU'RE JUST SO 'TWEET'!!!)
    LOVE,
    LIESA

  11. I would definitely try a darker shade. Love the new sofa and the carpet. You can never go wrong with bargains and making them work into your decor is exciting!! Love the pictures of the shower. So sad about the eggs! But how nice the girls got to see how much work a mother bird does in preparation of her eggs hatching. Enjoy your weekend, it's going to be beautiful and sunny here this weekend!

  12. I think the nest and eggs would look good under a cloche (if you have one--I don't, yet). Love the carpet--mine has been down sixteen years and I'm ready for new.

How in the world did you get a nice top of the line couch like that free? I'd better learn how to do that rather than get free stuff at CVS☺

Hope you have a good weekend!

  13. Dearest Becky, I am so glad that you found a home for your wonderful slate girl - she was one of the first posts of yours that I read - and I think it was actually through the S&T Friday that I found your incredible site. To think I might not have taken part that day and would have missed the continual joy, blessing and inspiration that your friendship and blog has brought. The wedding shower looked amazing - you are a woman of many gifts and talents dear friend. A graceful, gracious Lady! Fiona x x

  14. The wren nest is really cool. I love the leaf with just the veins on it. So pretty! The shower pictures were just beautiful. How lovely! Your redecorating project is looking great. I would change the color in the nitch too but not sure if it should be light or dark. I am a little weak on decoration skills:) Have a wonderful weekend dear sister! Love, Elena

  15. Hi Becky! We had some beautiful temps in the low 80's today!!Yay!! Rain all weekend though--oh well, as they say...April showers bring May flowers:)

I enjoyed all of your pictures! So sad about the little birds- that is so common when they are built low like that.

The shower decorations look so pretty!!
And your new carpet looks just like what we have throughout our house:) Yours looks great with your couch- and free- all the better!!

Have a great weekend, dear friend. And I have to say again that your granddaughter's sweet picture on your blog banner just makes me smile each time I arrive:)

    Hugs,
    Linda

  16. The nest is awesome ..the eggs just lovely..If they've been 5 weeks
they may be beyond blowing out..
But that's ok, just don't break them..they'll dry up ok..and I honestly do NOT believe they'd abandon that nest..maybe something happened to mama.. My wren would watch me and YELL at me constantly..so protective of her babes..and dad too.

How neat where they nested..but not wise for them..

  18. Aw I'm so sorry about the birds. Love the slate art work. I would paint the niche a little darker. Your sofa looks fine for a Tuscan theme if you ask me.

  20. We did a bird study one time, and they suggested having the kids try and build a bird nest. That was not easy!! It is truly amazing to see how birds can build that, make it so strong and hold together, when humans can't do that with 2 hands. We would have had to use hot glue to make ours even hang together.

  21. Cute nest. Our place is the same colors as yours. We need new carpet too. :)Yours looks great. I might go darker for a change on your walls. I'm wanting to paint ours a "warmer" color with neutral carpet. Love the slate girl. You have a beautiful home. Thanks for posting the pictures! :)
