SUMMER HAS ARRIVED!!!
And as I'm sure all of you know, there is a tragedy unfolding
in the Gulf of Mexico...off the coasts of Louisiana, Texas,
Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida of unprecedented proportions.
Hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil are threatening sealife and
wildlife habitats, bringing hundreds of businesses to a screeching
halt, and threatening to ruin these precious coastal areas for
years to come.
The economies of these states and the whole eastern
seaboard are now at stake. This could have an
absolutely devastating effect on our nation's economy as well
at a time when we are already suffering a severe recession.

Becky,
ReplyDeleteYou have such a loving heart! Please don't enter me in the generous and beautiful giveaway. I pray that just the person God intends will receive it. I am however, praying still for a resolution for that oil spill. Every time I see FoxNews and the birds and other wildlife suffering and I think of the people who are being affected by this already with their livelihoods etc; it makes me PRAY even more!
Thank you for the reminder and for your heart of care! Love you. I pray we get to finally meet this year sister!
Oh my goodness, I did not realize the gravity of the situation. I don't watch the news much. When we do watch TV it is a movie or cartoons for Mary. I will pray. I love your new blog header. You always do such a lovely job. Hugs, Elena
ReplyDeleteWe are praying and will continue to pray.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you sweetie!
Button on my blog. :o)
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a bird covered in oil I get sick to my stomach.I will proudly add the prayer button to my blog and I will join in the prayers for a solution.
ReplyDeleteBecky what a great idea. We are already praying about this and will continue. I put the button on my blog right at the top of my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteWe have been so worried about this. God bless all of you that are so close.
We have been praying and will continue to do so. My brother-in-law is in the Coast Guard stationed in LA and this is an awful, awful thing!!! We are also praying for those involved in the efforts of clean-up and stopping this leak - such dangerous jobs!!! I have been wondering if you have seen oil on your beaches - knowing how you love your beach I've been sad thinking of your beautiful white sand being marred!!! I will put your button on my blog - I've never done one before (I hope I can figure it out :0)!!) but after talking to my sister in LA and knowing how really an entire way of life is threatened there in the LA marshes it is important to pray!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay!! - I figured out how to do it!! Much easier than I thought!! Thanks Becky for the reminder to pray!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard of this oil spill I really thought they would get it cleaned up and that would be the end of it. But just yesterday watching the news and the prediction of how it is going to spread filled me with such alarm!!! This is horrible! I feel so bad for the people who are already out of work, feel so bad for the beaches being destroyed by this. I will continue to pray that they can get a cap on this pipe and stop the spreading of oil which I really fear will affect us all soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!! Please don't think I'm ignoring your email!!! Need to get my wrist measured for you!!! Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Dear Becky! Oh, what a wonderful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteNow since we live on the Texas Gulf Coast, we've already been praying daily the oil won't come this way! So far so good! I know how it would devastate our little island should it get this far. So many who live here depend on the waters for their living.
I will put your button on my side bar!!
Be a sweetie and enter my tiny name.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Whoops I see I was supposed to post that I put a blog button on my sidebar separately. Got it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beck!
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteCame over by way of Just a BeachKat and Mountain Mermaid. I am an Ocean girl myself, but actually live near the Inner Harbor in Baltimore so I know how everyone feels about the oil situation. Have been praying hard since the news first stated that the oil was spreading. Have also put your button on my sidebar. Thanks for that. We need all the prayers we can get to save our wonderful beaches. xxoo
I join in the prayers for the oil spill! He IS the God of the sea, after all.
ReplyDeleteYour items are lovely!
BTW, thanks for your comment on my blog regarding the mission trip misadventure.
To your question: I think there are only two in the series. The first is "The Trouble With Angels". "Where Angels Go" is the second.
I'll have to ask my mom and sister if they remember any others.
Great movies! We only have "Where Angels Go..." in our stash. When the daughter got home (finally) last night, she and I watched it together.
Ooops. Forgot.
ReplyDeleteI also put that button on my sidebar. Not only to win (I won't... I never do) but because it IS the one thing that we can do.
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteWell of course I will pray!
I am still unpacking, I don't know if I'll get done..LOL
I really need to post.
Take care and have a wonderful week,
Hugs, Elizabeth
Hi Becky, love your post today and your giveaway. I will post the oil button. I am so devastated by this oil problem. My prayers have already been constant. This disaster boggles the mind. Life's a Beach but for how long??? Sigh. I am saddened by it all.
ReplyDeleteYour giveaway is awesome. So generous and sweet. Just like you Becky. I hope you are feeling well my dear friend.
Big hugs to you today.

Hi Becky - we have been praying and will continue to. Today I heard on the radio that one of the biggest impacts is in tourism, and that is really hurting the State's economy, so they are trying to get the word out that it isn't as bad as the media says and 'come on down - the water is fine'! I'm so confused! I helped do clean up after a very small spill in an Ontario lake and it was so disheartening - we would spend hours cleaning off a gooey sticky bird, only to have it die the next day. So sad. It was such a waste!
ReplyDeleteI too love water - lake water! I grew up between two large lakes and spent all summer at the beach - I get so hungry for a real lake! When I get really lonesome for the gentle lapping of waves, my hubby takes us to a little man made lake an hours or so from here and I sit with my eyes closed listening to gulls and the waves.
As a former native Floridian I am devastated by this disaster that could and should have been prevented!!!
ReplyDeleteG'day Becky ~ We pray daily that this accident may be resolved quickly & pass without harm.
ReplyDeleteHave a beau-TEA-ful week.
TTFN ~ Marydon
Hi! Becky, Oh!yes, count me in praying for this situation with the oil, just this morning I began to think that this needs to be covered in Prayer,(not that we have not done so), but I mean we must get serious, with God and lift this up! Have a Blessed Day:)in the Lord.
ReplyDeletePutting the button on my sidebar right now and believing for a miracle!!!!
