I Needed This

Yesterday I was feeling kind of sad.  I was missing my Mom, my daughter Sam, my grandy Emily, and just the way some things
used to be.

Do you ever feel like that?

I don’t very often, but when I do, I get a bit weepy,
want to put on my slouchy clothes, have a
nice hot cup of coffee, and just recede into my surroundings.

It was such a pretty late afternoon that I do what I often do…
I went for a drive.

There is nothing like chatting it out with Jesus
while taking in the beauty He created!

In the last week I have seen two spectacular cloud formations that
looked as if they were gateways to heaven.  They really did!  One was yesterday on my drive but I couldn’t snap a photo because of
traffic and no place to pull over.

Oh how I wish you could have seen them!  They were truly amazing.

A little bit later on my way home I saw this…

clouds

And WAS able to snap and I just love how it came out!  I couldn’t believe that I captured it!  I took it quickly through the car window!!

God knows how much delight I take in His creation,  and I just
Oooo and Ahhhh constantly over it.

I felt like He was showing me a glimpse of His glory when I saw this,
And felt His tender loving care for me and my aching heart.

Great God.  Simple pleasures.  Nothing better.
Hope your weekend is full of them!

I’ll be visiting with you over the weekend!
Love you lots!!
Becky

  1. Hello my dear friend,

I identified with all you said in this post. Sometimes I just feel so sad, and it really has nothing to do with anything except 'change'.
I have felt that way a good bit lately for some reason. I blamed it on hormones! lol. But, seriously, seems like our lives just get caught up in a whirlwind and before we have time to understand and accept one thing, along comes another wind of change, and before long, I'm just really struggling with it all. Isn't it wonderful that we serve a God that doesn't change? I'm so glad about that! You handled your sadness well....your drive sounds delightful. I did that Saturday. I was tired and weary; so I just drove around my hometown for a few minutes before I did my grocery shopping. I love my little town, and somehow I just felt much better when I got home....and as you said, I talked to the Lord while driving. People I meet in traffic probably think I'm some crazy woman, but I tell you it works, and that's all I care about! :) Your picture is so beautiful! God put the scene there just for you! Hope you have a great weekend. I pray for you....please always pray for me.

    Much love,
    Liesa

  4. Becky, I totally understand those feelings. I get them a lot when I miss my far away kids and miss they way things used to be when they were still growing up. I still have my parents, but I do miss my grandparents and my godmother. The family gatherings we used to have when they were still around. Change. Yes it happens and sometimes I don't know how to deal with it. It is nice to know that others go through the same feelings. We have been empty nesters for a while now, but it is still hard to get used to at times.

    Love ya, Linnea

  11. Hi Becky

I think there are MANY of us who can soo relate to this post. I know I can for sure. I try soo hard to keep my head in the here and now and not wondering back to what used to be. I agree with your friend Leisa...praise God He remains the same. I too (as you well know) miss my daughter soo much. She is talking about finally having a baby (maybe start trying at Christmas time) and how will I ever bear not being right there with her? Praise God I KNOW He will see me through. 14. HI! Becky, hope that this finds you feeling better!:) I sure wish I had been there to have that coffee with you! and yes Creation does speak loudly! Shortly after my mom & dad passed (11 months apart); I began to look up in the darkness and always and I mean always there is a single Star that is so Bright, and often there is just one, I've always took that as a signal that this was God's way of showing me that my parents are close and watching over me! I just loved this pic! I know it was a sure way of speaking peace. Love and Blessings to you in the moments of unrest!

  20. I can sure relate but somehow, taking time to "smell the roses" will usually snap me out of a "funk" pretty fast. That is truly an amazing photo you were able to capture.

Thank you so much for your frequent visits and comments to My Cottage of Bliss. I deeply appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to visit. :)

  21. Beeeeutiful Becky...

What a joy it is to visit. Always something uplifting....even if you were describing a blue-ish day. And, that photo... ONLY God could have created that work of art. I wish I could have seen it in person.

  22. What a shot, Becky! What a God!!

Thanks for sharing how to look for blessings when we are feeling down. We all get that way-- I know I miss my "babies" and grandbabies.

Tim and Brooke moved to Michigan last month- 6 hrs away. Our Tim is just a special guy- a tender heart and wonderful young man. He helped me so much if I needed it. Loved just talking with him. Am sure missing him.--of course Brooke too.

But- silver lining--thank you again God--little Sophie and her mom and dad are coming to WI next weekend and will be spending 2 days with us!
I am so blessed- and you remind me of that so often! Thanks dear friend. Love you!

    Hugs,
    Linda

  25. Oh what a beautiful picture! I love to look at the clouds too. The day we had the heavy rain and hail, the clouds were building up on the horizon. Mary looked at them and said, "Snow, Mommy!" They were so big and full that she tought they were snow topped mountains. Boy did they drop a lot of water!! Blessings to you dear Becky. I pray for the Lord's sweet comfort today:)

  28. I know just what you mean! I have plenty of talks with the Lord and cries etc... while driving or walking out in his beautiful creation. Yesterday I felt God confirming his presence to me when a beautiful butterfly landed and sat right on my shirt sleeve? Beautiful and amazing just like your sky photo.
