These Uncertain Times
Me and my hubby believe that we personally may soon be facing some very difficult times in our lives, as business with his job continues to taper off.
Many of you may be, too. Uncertainty can bring out the worst in us, but that is not what God desires. He does not want us to be consumed by fear...that is not of Him. He has given us a sound mind, and will give us His wisdom if we will ask.
Today after spending some time with God and praying, He brought Psalm 103 to my mind so I read it, and felt His amazing peace flood my heart.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me,
bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits;
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
I have had some things to deal with lately that have required me to choose a response.
They haven't been easy, and didn't go the way I thought they should, but my response was much like God's response to us...lovingkindness and mercy...and a controlled tongue!! (ok...it has a few holes in it to say the least!!) What can I say...I am a work in progress!!
But God gave me what I needed to respond the way He wanted me to. Without Him...I can do nothing...nothing that is any good anyway!!
What are you facing today, friends?
Whatever it is...God sees, knows, and will give you ALL you need to get through it in a way that will bring Him honor and glory.
He will guide us each step of the way...He never said life would be easy or fair...in fact He said the opposite...to expect trials, and to know that He will walk through them with us, will work in and through them, and will never leave or forsake us!!
Today, may you find God faithful in supplying all your needs according to His riches in glory.
In His Grip,
Becky

ReplyDeleteSuch a great post!! Amen, Amen and Amen!!
You know it is said that "God never gives us more than we can handle" There have been times that Randy and I have had so much misfortune coming at us...I didn't know how we would ever get through it... which makes me think God must really believe in me. Adversity does not always bring out the best in us...or does it and we just don't realize?...it is during those times we learn about ourselves and about others. Our faith is tested...but somehow we always seem to come through it...and better than before.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is moving so fast...and there is so much anger in this world...maybe this recession will turnout to be a positive thing...maybe we can all get back to the basic pleasures in life?
hang in there my friend...You are very right.,..God will never abandon us...he wants us to turn to him always.
I also believe he brings people into our lives for a reason...they may not stay forever...but they bring something very valuable to our life.
Whatever it is...God sees, knows, and will give you ALL you need to get through it in a way that will bring Him honor and glory.
ReplyDeleteamen amen amen....
Oh Becky, how this post ministered to my heart..how Psalm 103 brought such a wave of peace over my being....God KNEW I needed to read this above statement you wrote....Thank You Father God for the way You speak to me through Your Word, through Your children and confirming to me what You have been speaking to my spirit...Father, thank You, thank You for Your lavish love and for enabling me to stand firm in hope, trust, love,,,believing the best...NO MATTER what the enemy, the trials, the people, or the circumstances may be saying, screaming, whispering to me...Glory to You Father God amen amen amen
Becky, I got a email this week and it said you are being TESTED! YES, I am, as many people are. I have worried about my children and grandchildren. One of the hubbies worked 2 months and now job gone again. To make matters worse, they had a leak and the hot water heater sent their electric bill up, now its off with 1200.00 owed. They moved in with us yesterday. My daughter works 3 days a week and is school the others. The baby cried most of the night, missing her own room. I hope you and your hubby, does not have to face too much. It is hard times and I keep telling my girls, its going to get worse. For everyone here are losing jobs left and right. As I know all over the USA I will be holding your family up in prayer.
ReplyDeletegreat post. so very true.
ReplyDeleteA great post to minister to so many readers going through similar circumstances! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm new here, but you can add my name to your 100th post giveaway! Thanks!
I love how you ended your post...in His grip. Because even though things may be storming around us we need to remember that God holds us in the palm of HIS hand. Praying for God's protection upon you and your family and more importantly for His peace to surround you!!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Becky, it is the sign of an incredible Faith, and strength and grace, that even in the face of adversity you can think of others. That even when you have uncertainty in your life you can turn this around to be something to offer to other people comfort and reassurance. I trust that you feel some comfort yourself too, and that you know that just as people come to read your posts to get strength and sustenance, so too they keep you in their prayers and thoughts, in the hope that this will in turn give you reassurance that people are committing you and your family to His care, safe in the knowledge that he will look after you. Love and prayers dearest Becky at this challenging time, Fiona x
ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome post, Becky! So true!! We are in God's grip! So many need to know this now. Thanks for your sharing and caring heart!
ReplyDeleteBecky, Thanks for this wonderful reminder of how with God on our side, who or what can prevail against us! He is our strong tower and with Him we can endure all things! I am praying for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteBlessings! Carolyn
I just finished spending some time with the Lord, read a devotional. Joshua 1:7-8...than the Lord reminded me that Joshua 1:9 was my 2009 scripture verse...My body has been shaking on the inside, fighting off the arrows from the evil one. Than I came to my email and found your comment to my Fearless Friday. It brought tears to my eyes....Oh precious Becky,,,how God comforted me through your words...((hugs))
ReplyDeleteOh becky, please add me in for you 100 post giveaway. If it is not too late. And it is funny you mention Uncertainty. That is the exact topic of church service here in Henderson Nevada, at Central Christian Church. We are all going over all the uncertainties we have. You really wouldn't believe what hard times we are all going through. The one thing is certain!!!! God's love for each and every one of us and that if God is with Us Who Can Be Against Us. Much love you your and your big decisions. My God hold you in his arms and help you choose the right words. much love Jaime
ReplyDeleteDear Becky, Thank you for this post♥ The last several months I've felt that God has continued to prune me when I was beyond pruning. I don't know how we could make it without Him. Some days it's hard to see the good.
ReplyDeleteYou and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
This is such a great post, Becky! Thank you for reminding me of this wonderful verse. I had claimed this verse several years ago when going through some trials, but had forgotten it here lately.
ReplyDeleteSo many are under stress and trying times and I know that what you have said here is an encouragement.
I was touched by your closing of "in His grip"- because He has us in the grip of his hand and never lets go of us.
Blessings and prayers,my dear friend,
Linda C
;) A work in progress...I like it. your post is something sooner or later we ALL can relate to. It's been a rough road with too many pot holes and I still don't understand why. I feel I may never. From this point, I feel all there is to do is leave the past in the past and go on and try to do my best from here. The past is a consuming weight to carry that often claims the entire life of the carrier. I'm glad God has mercy on us whether we deserve it or not sometimes. I really appreciate the verses you put down. It gives encouragement and hope. I appreciate and am thankful for the new-found friendship I have inadvertently discovered here. :)
ReplyDeleteBecky, I'm thinking of you. This was a beautiful post. I heard a minister say that in terms of people of faith there are two realities... there's God's truth and then there are facts. That's where faith stands in the gap.
ReplyDeleteI also think that God inhabits the praises of Hie people, and I'm sure He is inhabiting this post. I can remember one time many years ago I was going through an ordeal, and I got in the shower and just started singing the praise song, "I love you Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you, oh my sould rejoice..." And God overcame the obstacle for me. :-) I love that verse you quoted. It's one of my favorites. Please know I'm thinking of you and hoping so much that all goes well and that your business will be blessed. :-)
XO,
Sheila :-)
Oh, and Becky, I am on that thread! :-)
ReplyDeleteXO,

Hi Becky! What a very timely post for me to read. I like you have had some "issues" at work where I had the option to handle it one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteUnlike you, looking back on the week ... I have regrets that I missed the opportunity to exhibit Christ's love of people and God's profound certainty. I chose to speak harshly, and act on fear, anxiety and worry. All of which are Satan's tools.
Talk about a work in progress.... Oh Dear!
I'll be working this next week to fix what is broken.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this lovely, inspiring post. Our God IS able!!! I will be in prayer about your hubby's job. We have the same "fear" going on here.
Plus, our sweet Chelsea {Gabby's mommy} is going through a stinky divorce and we are praying about Gabby's exposure to her father.
There's a court hearing this coming Tuesday over an order of protection.
Without God, what would we do?!
He holds us in the palm of His Mighty Hand.
Thanks for refocusing me!
It was a timely reminder.
Love to you!
