Falling Apart

So...when is falling apart a good thing, you ask?

I worked with teenage youth at church for a number of years.
At one of our conferences, a former WWF wrestler named
Nikita Koloff said this:

If your Bible is falling apart, chances
are your life isn't.

Well, it's not falling apart really rapidly because it is made well.
But signs of heavy usage have been taking their toll on
my personal copy of this the
most wonderful Book ever written.

Notches in the leather top and bottom.

Pages lovingly taped back together after curious
hands had to see what Mom was reading.

The binding loosening and pages that move when they're turned

Little tears and never found pieces missing (same curious little hands!)
{smile}

The quote (from 2002) written in the blank pages in the back of my Bible.

His Word is Breath and Life to me.
I can't even begin to imagine life without
His love letter to me! (and to you!)

Praying that our Bibles fall apart instead of our lives!!

FOOTNOTE:
My computer has randomly shut down twice (never happens!)
since I started writing this post.  Hmmm....

Big squishy Holy Hugs to you!
Have a JOYFUL week!!!
Love,
Becky

  3. Oh Sweet Becky...........isn't that the truth? I love a yummy old worn bible.... I actually look for them when I'm out and about.......and especially love the ones that have notes written in them. I bought a new one a few years ago......Mine was so tattered....I wanted a lovely leather one.........still like the old one better. :-)

Big squishy hugs right back dear one...

  5. Love this girl. Over the years, I've gotten new bibles but always end up with my old one-so many prayers written in it, so many tears and dates etc...can't part with it. What a treasure He gave us...

  7. Yes, my Bible is falling apart, Becky. It's well worn, with lots of reading and learning.:-) And it's over 50 years old! Given to me, by my Mother, when I was 12.

    Hugs to you!

  8. Hi Becky, Is this ever true or what? I FINALLY replaced my old one about 6 years ago when the backing was soo bad it was truly just falling apart. It REALLY bothered me as soo much was written in it. But my "new" one is really no longer new and is well on it's way to looking a little tattered and worn. I am more careful with this one as I don't want to EVER replace again. Just really kind of like a part of you. Have a wonderful week! Hugs, Deb

  10. I love this Becky. So true. I had my scriptures stolen out of our car a few years ago in Las Vegas while we were visiting friends. I was heartsick as it was marked and I had notes in the margins and the whole bit. My new one is getting broken in now but it is just not the same. Yours look well loved and well used.

You are right, I have been very busy. Everything is culminating this week with the bathroom getting done and I have a big presentation on the joys of blogging for our Women's Conference this coming Thursday evening. I wrote a whole new blog about blogging and that is why I have been a bit absent lately. You can check it out here if you are so inclined. magicmemorymaking.blogspot.com

I plan to make it an ongoing thing if enough ladies are interested. Of course at this point it is very elementary. I wrote it so it reads like a book..oldest to newest posts so they can just follow along and create a blog and get started.

I just love blogging and I think it has improved my life in so many ways and it is such a great way to share gospel principles. I love that the most.So we will see how it all goes, Thursday.

I hope you are feeling well, I think of you often and pray for you. i ma glad you avoided the virus. Jim has had like four colds and the flu this year and miraculously I have not gotten sick on time. I am praying it stays that way!!

    Love you, sweet Becky...Bon

Sorry I had to delete the above...typing errors that I never quite see until after I hit...post comment! XOXO

  11. Hi Becky, your Bible is the evidence that you are a woman of God. I love this post and your life must be strong with God in view of the loving wear and tear the Lords word has endured. Endured being the underlying word. It will endure and so will you and your faith.

    Blessings and love, Jeanne

  12. Hi Becky! Oh, yes this is a great post! Love seeing your worn Bible - you're in it a lot aren't you? It takes a special calling and a special heart to work with youth. God bless you for making a difference in some lives.
I'm so glad to have met you in Blogland.
    You are a sweetie,

  15. Neat post. My Bible is similar, but not quite as tattered as yours. I've been "babying" it of late. I get new ones and keep going back to my older one.

    I hope you are well...

  16. Love this post! And I love a soft-back, well worn Bible. Trying to break in a new one but I'm going back to my old favorite I know.
    Have a great week.

  17. Hi Becky. Thanks for stopping by my world for a bit. You asked about the envelopes for the cards. If it's not too dimensional, I wrap the card in tissue paper and mail in the envelopes the cards came with (I usually by a pack of 50 plain cards at the craft store). If my card is an unusual size or is too thick to go in the envelope, I again wrap in tissue and send in a small bubble mailer or manilla envelope - I buy a big box at the office supply store so I always have them handy. I ALWAYS write "DO NOT BEND" on the envelope.

    I hope this helps!

  20. It's good to see that your bible is very well worn. It shows that you practice what you preach!
You are walking the walk and not just talking the talk!
A friend of mine got his bible rebound;that might be something to consider in the future if you have a lot if information/notes written in the margins.

  21. What an awesome post and so true! I gave up my well worn Bible for a new when with my married name on it last year. I had kept my old Bible after we were married but it had my maiden name on the front. So my sweet hubby bought me a new one for our anniversary in 2008:) Blessing to you dear friend! Elena

  23. Love your Bible! Mine is quite literally falling apart as well, but I refuse to use another. I purchased a really pretty Bible carrier for it and use that to keep it safe.

What a great idea for a post!

    Hope you're doing well!

  30. You blog title scared me at first- I thought either you or something in your life was falling apart! Whew! Yes it IS a good thing when your Bible is falling apart from use:)

I have a fairly new Bible after my old one was in danger of losing some pages every time I opened it!

Great post, Becky! Love it!! And what a joy to see your personal handwriting:) Love that too! You have beautiful penmanship!

  32. What wonderful thoughts! I am going to write that down and share with our Bible study monday night. I got a new one not to far back, and mine is not showing signs of wear like the old one was since I have had it only a little while. I forgot to say, my daughter is in FL too, and they are expecting more rain as are we. I have thoroughly enjoyed these warmer sunny days. This is the coldest wettest winter that I can remember in a long time. Have a blessed day. Jackie
