The Fabric of My Life

I am absolutely in love with TEXTURES!!

IMG_4091

I know it has to be genetic.

My Mama Rose was an interior decorator and upholsterer, and her taste in fabric was eclectic and a little eccentric at times!

And I have fond memories of strolling through fabric stores with my Mom, and watching as her she lightly touched all of the different fabrics.

There were just so many that were too irresistible!

We couldn’t afford so much of what we saw, but Mom didn’t let that stop her from dreaming.

I can get absolutely lost with all of the textures…

especially the natural fibers.

Oh how they woo me!

I find that I am moving even more deeply into my desire to “simplify” within my home.

It includes the color palette, too, which right now consists of lovely rich earth tones.

I read this quote recently and it really spoke to my heart:

“Texture has replaced my need for color”.

Could you imagine waking up here?

I dream now about changing my decor to mostly creamy whites and beiges with little pops of color here and there.  It is just so serene.  I will be making those changes a wee little bit at a time!

Here is a little sneak peek at my new…

Christmas Frosting Collection!

I will be adding it to my Junk to Joy Shop over the next few weeks!

It will include lots of wonderful soft whites, with some lovely muted tones here and there…sprinkled with bits of vintage inspiration, and rustic, earthy, natural elements!

Can’t wait to share it with you!

Hope you have a delightful day!

Blessings and hugs,
Becky

  3. Becky...Your colorful acorns on Etsy are just beautiful....talk about textures! It's funny that I found you....I've been setting up a new art show booth in my garage today..and I'm trying to get more 'textures' in my table draping and coverings. I'm considering using a pale green burlap along with the other neutral whites!! Thank you for some fun inspiration~

  6. Becky, we're kindred souls here. I spend most of my time in the fabric store feeling the fabric. I actually do the same in clothing stores. If it feels *right* I'm drawn to it.

I love that bedroom you posted.
I could definitely see myself wakiing up there!!

  7. Hi Becky,
I love all those white textured fabrics as well, so pretty together or apart. The subtleness and beauty of it really grow on you overtime. That bedroom is breathtakingly beautiful.
Your memories of your Mom in a fabric store are so
sweet, I love looking at fabric too, I remember Scott saying Mom why do you like looking at material so much, and I said I don't know babe,
but I just do, it makes me happy!! and he just laughed and shook his head. He was about 10 or so then!! Sweet Memory!!

  13. Wow Becky! that is so dreamy and amazing. I can close my eyes and just imagine that soft comfy bed and a slight breeze coming in through the open window or door and lightly making waves with the hanging fabrics. Umm it looks like a beautiful new creation, I can't wait to see it completed! In the real world....my grandchildren would probably have their sweet sticky little hands all over my beautiful creamy linens and comforter! LOL hugs and smiles! have a wonderful weekend!

  19. Becky,
I'm with you--I love texture, although I'm a big color person too. I'm just finishing knitting a wrap all in shades of beiges and whites, and it has been such a pleasure to knit. Finding simplicity in life is a challenge, but very rewarding. One of the pleasures of "maturing" is realizing you really don't need a lot of "stuff" anymore. That being said, your textural ornaments are lovely and there's always room for pretty decorations.
