The Fabric of My Life

I am absolutely in love with TEXTURES!!

I know it has to be genetic.

My Mama Rose was an interior decorator and upholsterer, and her taste in fabric was eclectic and a little eccentric at times!

And I have fond memories of strolling through fabric stores with my Mom, and watching as her she lightly touched all of the different fabrics.

There were just so many that were too irresistible!

We couldn’t afford so much of what we saw, but Mom didn’t let that stop her from dreaming.

I can get absolutely lost with all of the textures…

especially the natural fibers.

Oh how they woo me!

I find that I am moving even more deeply into my desire to “simplify” within my home.

It includes the color palette, too, which right now consists of lovely rich earth tones.

I read this quote recently and it really spoke to my heart:

“Texture has replaced my need for color”.

Could you imagine waking up here?

I dream now about changing my decor to mostly creamy whites and beiges with little pops of color here and there.  It is just so serene.  I will be making those changes a wee little bit at a time!

Here is a little sneak peek at my new…

Christmas Frosting Collection!

I will be adding it to my Junk to Joy Shop over the next few weeks!

It will include lots of wonderful soft whites, with some lovely muted tones here and there…sprinkled with bits of vintage inspiration, and rustic, earthy, natural elements!

Can’t wait to share it with you!

Hope you have a delightful day!

Blessings and hugs,

  1. I can't wait to see what you're offering, Becky! Love that sneak peek. And yes, that room is fabulous. I should have known someone as talented as you got it genetically! :-)

    Love you...

    Sheila :-)

  2. This is great....have fun creating...and I too love fabric...second to books!

  3. Becky...Your colorful acorns on Etsy are just about textures! It's funny that I found you....I've been setting up a new art show booth in my garage today..and I'm trying to get more 'textures' in my table draping and coverings. I'm considering using a pale green burlap along with the other neutral whites!! Thank you for some fun inspiration~

  4. i do love texture but i also deeply love color! thanks for that sneak peek - it looks so beautiful and i can't wait to see it all!

  5. Oh Becky more signs of the kindred spirits. I too just LOVE textures. I could get lost for hours in a fabric store. My kids use to soo flip out whenever I would mention the word "fabric", haha..I am loving the colors (or lack of them) too. The room looks heavenly. I am eagerly looking forward to your new creations. HUGS, Debbie

  6. Becky, we're kindred souls here. I spend most of my time in the fabric store feeling the fabric. I actually do the same in clothing stores. If it feels *right* I'm drawn to it.

I love that bedroom you posted.
I could definitely see myself wakiing up there!!

  7. Hi Becky,
I love all those white textured fabrics as well, so pretty together or apart. The subtleness and beauty of it really grow on you overtime. That bedroom is breathtakingly beautiful.
Your memories of your Mom in a fabric store are so
sweet, I love looking at fabric too, I remember Scott saying Mom why do you like looking at material so much, and I said I don't know babe,
but I just do, it makes me happy!! and he just laughed and shook his head. He was about 10 or so then!! Sweet Memory!!
Can't wait to see what you are coming up with now, that last pretty there looks intriguing,
just went thru your etsy inventory to see what is new, poo it wasn't there yet!! lol
Hope all is well with you, maybe we can talk tomorrow. I have to go to Dr. Wells in the afternoon and then we are going to a marriage seminar at the church tomorrow evening. So morning would be best!!
    Love ya girly, Nellie
Wanta come over for Pumpkin Pie and Coffee in the Morning???

  8. Oh I would really love waking up in that creamy white and serene bedroom! I love white decor too, but I get conflicted because I also love bright colors such as the jewel tones. I think I'm a rare breed! he he

  9. Looking forward to seeing what wonderful things you are creating!!

  10. Just beautiful Becky!! You are so talented.

  11. Hi Becky!

I love texture too and the soft colors of creams and whites...beautiful! I remember too tagging along behind my mother strolling through the fabric shop and softly touching the fabrics and seeing her eyes sparkle with her love for fabrics! :)

I can't wait to see your pretty textured goodies!

    Hugs, Carolyn ~ Cottage Sunshine

  12. i've been thinking about going with a lot of white, too! i went to an IKEA store recently - my first time there - and i loved all the white :) it really opened up the rooms!

  13. Wow Becky! that is so dreamy and amazing. I can close my eyes and just imagine that soft comfy bed and a slight breeze coming in through the open window or door and lightly making waves with the hanging fabrics. Umm it looks like a beautiful new creation, I can't wait to see it completed! In the real grandchildren would probably have their sweet sticky little hands all over my beautiful creamy linens and comforter! LOL hugs and smiles! have a wonderful weekend!

  14. Good morning sweet Becky~~your pictures are so soft and creamy. I know what you mean about different textures..they add so much to a room...even one with just whites.

  15. Oh Becky, Just love the look of these textures together!!!! You definitely have your moms giftings.
    Hugs today.

  16. I am an earth tone girl myself Becky, and love the little sneak peek you gave. I can tell just by your posts, that you are having so much fun creating for "junk to joy" Becky, and I am so happy for you. You are so gifted with your hands, . Those trips you took with your mother, are now coming into fruition, just keep those creative juices flowing.
I am looking forward to seeing them too.
    Much love,

  17. Hey come we keep missing each other? What's going on? Miss you. =(
It's crunch time with the Banquet, can't wait until November 12th! Looking forward to a good rest. HA!
Praying that your week will be a blessing.

  18. Becky...Is this a stage we have come to in our lives. The desire to simplify is so strong within me. And texture is a something I crave.

Your creations are beautiful...much like your soul.

  19. Becky,
I'm with you--I love texture, although I'm a big color person too. I'm just finishing knitting a wrap all in shades of beiges and whites, and it has been such a pleasure to knit. Finding simplicity in life is a challenge, but very rewarding. One of the pleasures of "maturing" is realizing you really don't need a lot of "stuff" anymore. That being said, your textural ornaments are lovely and there's always room for pretty decorations.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share some JOY!
You're a blessing to me!
