Cup of Joy~~That's Life

LIFE.

Life has been a bit challenging for my family lately.

I won't burden your hearts with the details, but we have been dealing with some stuff that really makes our
hearts ache.

None of us escape this life without heartaches. Jesus said that we WILL have tribulation in this world.

He was so right, wasn't He?

I wish I could say in honesty that my first response to pain is to talk to Him about it. Usually though, I cry, have a little bit of a "Woe is me" time, and then...turn to Jesus.

Thankfully, He understands, and is ALWAYS there, probably thinking,

"I wish she would just come to Me first!"

In my defense {and by His grace}...I do get to Him much more quickly than ever before! {smile}

One of the first Christian songs that I really came to love was the one the Lord put on my heart this morning in the midst of my tears. It has this really soothing effect on me, and just draws me right into prayer, His Word, and His tender loving mercies.

Psalm 42:1

As the hart {deer} panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

f.jpg

Here are the lyrics to the song...

As the deer pants for the water
So my soul longs after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy-giver
And the apple of my eye

You're my Friend and You are my Brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything

Isn't that so beautiful?

I hope it makes your heart glad to know that this incredible God...the same one that created and sustains LIFE as we know it,

LOVES YOU WITH A PERFECT LOVE,

AND He longs to hear all about everything you're dealing with...the good, the bad and the ugly!!

We can have great joy in the midst of pain!

Could it get any better than that??!!

I thank the Lord for turning my tears into JOY this morning!!

AND

Thank you for sharing a cup with me this morning!

May your week be full of JOY in Him!

Love ya bunches,
Becky

  4. Morning Beck,
what a lovely post. Yea, we really don't escape
the tribulation, that is for sure, but if we did or could, we would never learn how dependable, and faithful and loving and healing Jesus really is!
And I know you know that too!!
Like you said It doesn't get any better than that!!
I remember singing that song when I was in youth ministry and I loved it too, it is really a beautiful song full of truth.

Isn't it neat how has the Lord grows us up our
Woe as me times get shorter and shorter!!
I remember Joyce Meyer saying that she was going thru one of her pity party times and the Lord said to her Joyce, you have asked me for a lot,
do you want it or not....you can either be pitiful or powerful, but you can't be both.
What a good word from God!! I thought wow,
I want to be powerful!! and I know you do too!
and you are Sweet Friend. Only God can makes us powerful for His Kingdom!! Yeah for God!!

Hope your weekend went well hon.
Praying for you, hopefully, I can give you a call later, or if you get some time call me.
    Love ya, Nellie

That is one of my favorite songs. We sang it a lot in Bible study back in the early nineties.

Love you and hope that things turn around. I am a phone call away if you want to talk or to pray.

  9. Oh, Becky, I'm so sorry for the pain. I know pain well, as most folks do. I am so like you in that too often my first cry isn't always the best cry.

I love that worship song. It is one that my girls and I used to to sing in the car since it was really popular when they were growing up.

    Be comforted, dear Becky.

  15. Oh Becky how I can relate to this post! I am sorry your family is going through "stuff" right now that is troubling to you. I too tend to turn to Him after a moment or two somehow remembering, "Oh yeah, what am I doing dealing with this by myself?" You'd think that'd be my very first thought after all this time as His child. But sadly it isn't always. Good thing He waits patiently for us isn't it? The lyrics to this song are beautiful. I love it. Praying all settles down soon for you all. Write me more if you like, I am ALWAYS here for you. Big hugs to you, Debbie

  22. I wonder if we were both singing this song on the same day!!! What a sweet offering to our Lord.
I also posted the words to this song today after a situation brought it to my mind also!

Blessings as you work through your trial. As one pastor said at our church...You are in one of three places, You have either just coming out of a trial, In a trial, or getting ready to go into one. It brought so much peace to me knowing that that is life and it is where God meets us!!!

Dear one, I am so sorry your family is going through difficulties. What comfort we have that we can take them to the Lord, for He is strong and able to carry us through.
Do like John, the Beloved, place your head to hear His heartbeat. He loves you so much!
    Love and prayers,

  28. Much prayers for you today, Becky. I too have found Joy many times among the pain. and I admit that so many times I try everything and finally run to Him, when I should have gone first. I often wonder why I do that, I don't know if I am trying to prove to Him, that I can do it all by myself or if I am to ashamed to come to Him, But like you I am getting better at going to Him first. Thank you for the reminder!

May your joy remain stedfast through this pain. Please know you have so many that are lifting you up through this trial.
    Much love,
    Sue
