For Today… Monday October 19, 2009

Outside my window... It is a beautiful blue sky autumn day in Florida!  A lovely mild 65 degrees!

I am thinking... This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!! 

I am thankful for... My hubby’s Dr. appt. was trouble free!

 I am wearing... Blue jeans, white sweatshirt and my Crocs!

I am remembering... That perfection isn’t the necessary end to everything!

I am creating… A couple of handmade thank you cards.

I am going... To buy some groceries.

I am reading...Following God With All of Your Heart by Elizabeth George {because Liesa said it was so good and it is!} Thanks, Liesa!!

I am hoping... To get the valances for my family room sewn and hung!!

 On my mind... My lovely friend Lady Katherine and her surgery on Wednesday.

 Noticing that... The doggies in our lives are shedding quite a bit!!!

Pondering these words...

From the kitchen… Homemade Creamy Squash Soup (didn’t get it done yesterday!) with crusty bread!  YUM!!!

Around the house... The wonderful aroma of my pumpkin cookie candle, cool breeze coming in the windows, and a full heart thankful for a lovely weekend.

One of my favorite things… Looking at other people’s outdoor fall decorations.

A few plans for the rest of the week…  schooling, sewing, potting some herbs

Simple Pleasures are the BEST!

Don’t you think?  I am just not a high maintenance kind of gal!  I am so easily pleased with the little things in life. 

Here are some of my for the “FALL OF IT ALL”
simple pleasures…

Spiced Pumpkin foaming hand soap from TJ Maxx!  My whole family loves it and because it foams, it lasts a long time.  I keep it at the kitchen sink.

 

Some seasonal veggies!!  

 These are butternut squash and tomorrow I will be turning them into…CREAMY SQUASH SOUP!!  Doesn’t that sound delish??  I’ll post the recipe if it comes out YUMMY!!

And we will be eating it out of these ADORABLE rooster soup mugs from Ross…$3.99 each!!  These just make me smile!!

Candles….glowing, warm, flickering, aromatic WONDERFULNESS!!  

The jar candle is “Pumpkin Cookies” and I bought it at Kirkland’s for $6.99!!  No reason to spend the money on Yankee candles!  These burn great and smell just as lovely for 1/3 of the price of a Yankee.
Saving money…always a GOOD THING!! 

To get the most burn time you just have to keep the wick trimmed, and after  you snuff it out, gently push any wax lining the jar down so it can melt.  It’s that easy!!  And EVERYONE who comes to my house LOVES this scent!

And of course, those of you who have been with me for awhile know that somewhere in this post there would be a bird!!  Here is my birdy on a leaf candy dish!!!

Too, too, too cute!!  Somehow my guests always gravitate to greet this little guy!!  Hmmm…wonder why???

Today I am thanking God for all of the simple pleasures that make me smile and bring joy to my days!!

You guessed it!!  That includes you, my friends!!

Some Cottage/Bungalow Love!!!

 

As most of you know, I LOVE to take drives and look at homes and landscaping!  Me and Maddy drove to nearby Sanford and went to the historic neighborhoods and snapped some photos for YOU!!

 

Come enjoy the drive with us!! 

Some of the streets these homes are on are brick and so very charming!.  

 

The city installed vintage look lighting to add visual appeal.  So cute!!

 

 I wish I had gotten a better shot of this front porch.  It is decorated so nicely with sweet wicker sitting areas complete with table and lamps!

 

This next one is quite grand and it was hard to get a good pic of the whole house.  I LOVE the cross and sun above the steps, and this porch is awesome!  And OF COURSE, gotta love the white picket fence!!

So much potential for added loveliness here!

 

This one is perfectly charming and again the front porch is done so well, but I couldn’t capture it for you.  The front door is beautiful wood and probably original!  Wish you could see it better!

 

Another little beauty with some touches of red brick, pretty red door and a swing!  Would love to justa swing right there wouldn’t you? 

This next one is in process, and just waiting for someone to LOVE all over it!!  I love the side porch!  Perfect for an outdoor room!

 

I will leave you with this amazing beauty!!  Isn’t it just divine??!!  What a charmer!!  Love that balcony with french doors!!  Awesome craftsmanship!
