Our precocious, oops I mean precious, little Emily came by for a visit yesterday!!

Her Mommy bought her this carrot that looked just like one she saw a favorite Curious George character eating, and she was sooo excited to show it off!! And she ate the whole thing!!




She then opened the ottoman where we store board games, and said "Who will play the princess game with me? Anyone?"

Well, I have to be perfectly honest, Nana did NOT want to play a game. Nana was really busy vegging out on the sofa for a few minutes...the past week has been really nutty!

SO...she asked again and got specific, "Nana, will you please play the Princess game with me?" batting her eyes and eyelashes fluttering!!!





To which I replied with a marked lack of enthusiasm, "OK Nana will play".




The play only lasted about 7 minutes, but by then I was enthralled with this precious little girl; she was ecstatic that I joined in, and God was smiling because I crawled out of my self-absorption long enough to share some delight with one of His littles!!

And of course, I GOT THE BLESSING!!




So I ask you, "Can it really get any better than this?"

Saturday, my darlin' hubby decided to take our daughter Madison and her cousin Kristina to Bass Pro Shops in Orlando. Maddy loves it there and Kristina had never been. (and Mommy had some lovely time alone!! Gotta LOVE that!!)

The girls were so excited to touch a real Nascar race car. This one belongs to Martin Truex...not one of our fave drivers, but cool nonetheless!!

They just love the whole "posing" thing!! Can you tell??


This is where it gets serious. There is a bass fishing legend named Bill Dance who was doing a meet and greet that day. He happens to be one of my hubby's all time favorite fishermen. All of our girls have watched his show through the years and THEY GOT TO MEET HIM!!!

And with my hunky hubby!! OH SWEET PEAS!!! My hubby came home with his face glowing like Moses coming down from the mountaintop!!


His rich reward for treating these little girls to a day of fun was to have all the time he wanted shootin' the breeze with Bill!!

(He just came behind me and saw that I was posting this, and said to be sure to email these pics to his office so he can show them off!! TOO CUTE!!!)

Bill, being the warm, friendly man he is signed half a dozen pictures for Randy to bring home and share!! He talked to Randy like they had been buddies all of their lives. He was so thrilled!!

A day they will always remember!!

We Did It! Wednesday~~A Hunting We will Go!!

As some of you know, Me and Maddy went hunting with my hubby a couple of months ago.

It was about 27 degrees outside, and we were in this box tree stand now known to us as "The Cozy Condo" . The only window is the one you see here.

I couldn't see the area where the deer should come through, but they could. I spent 3 1/2 hours in here the first day being quiet, still, and staring into the same patch of woods the whole time!! What we won't do for love, huh?




This is where we "should" have seen deer, with the emphasis on "should"!! It was very peaceful and serene out there, one of the things hubby enjoys most! (guess so he lives with chatty Becky!!)

Here is the bleary-eyed trio the next morning inside the cozy condo seizing a Kodak moment. I can't even tell you how many layers of clothes this "sunshine gal" had on, but I needed every one of them to stay warm.


We did see two does and a buck the second day towards the very end of the hunt, but none close enough for a shot.

Maddy absolutely loved this time with us! We had a blast mocking the way Tiffany (from a hunting show called Up Close With Lee and Tiffany that my hubby watches) whispers when she's hunting...we can imitate her perfectly!!

We couldn't stop laughing a couple of times, and Randy just turned and would stare at us!! Oh MYLANTA !!! It was so funny!!

A light rain began as we left, and I took this pic of Florida Holly Tree berries with raindrops on them. Couldn't get close enough because of the briars

We ate at the hunting camp Saturday night, and met some wonderful people. We will be joining this camp this year, and we can't wait. It's a real family atmosphere, and we just love that!!

A couple of days ago Maddy and I picked up her cousin Kristina to come over for a visit. These two were born 3 weeks apart, and are as close as sisters!! It is just so cute!!

I had some chores to finish, but told them when I was done, we'd go somewhere they wanted to go. They chose Target!!

Maddy is the youngest of our four daughters, and has 2 older sisters (20 & 23) that are quite the fashionistas!! She has this thing for fidoras (is that how you spell it?)

Here they are just a hammin' and glammin'!! We had a blast!! They totally cracked me up!! This is my Maddy!

They love playing dress up! Maddy has a wig collection and they dream up characters to play. My favorites are Wanda and Indiana. I'll have to do a post on those two characters next time they visit!! I'll give you a little preview...Wanda is an elderly, gum crackin' southerner who can never find her ointment!! It is a HOOT!!! Quite the imaginations!!

But back to the Tar-jay Divas!!

That was all of the hammin', but I just made it their time and took them around to whatever they wanted to look at!! No purchases were made except my new ergonomic mouse pad!! (LOVE IT) But a good time was had by all!!

We Did It! Wednesday~~Nascar Practice

Welcome to We Did It! Wednesday!

I host this meme/carnival, and it's purpose is to promote quality time with our children and grandchildren, and to share ideas with each other of fun and interesting things to do with them.

One of Madison's favorite things to do is go to the Bud Shootout race at Daytona Intl. Speedway right here in central FL. Well, our source for discounted tickets dried up, so we opted to just go watch them take some practice runs last Friday. (far less expensive)



It was a beautiful day at the track...Clear blue skies, but a wind that drove the chilly air right through our jackets!! Most of Florida had freezing weather last week!!

Here we are settled in, trying to stay warm...and well, you can see how many other people are...NOT THERE! Wonder why?? BRRRRR!!!

Had to throw this in...my favorite driver Tony Stewart!!

We love the roar of the engines as they go by at speeds reaching almost 200 mph; something everyone should see at least once in their lives!! Maddy can't get enough of it!!

Sunset at the track...you know what that means...Yep-it just gets colder!!!


Us trying desperately to stay warm! Daddy went to the car to get his big coat for Maddy and me to share!! What a great guy...that's no short walk!!


Aaawww...he brought us hot chocolate, too!! 30 years later and he is just as loving as ever!


He also brought back some of his hunting camo. (I said I'd never wear camo in the stands) Guess I spoke too soon!! Maddy got the hat! I got the gloves!! (and we were both very thankful!!!)


He had to catch me one last time, all bundled up, tired, and chilled to the bone!!

My nose only gets red when I cry and when I'm freezing my tushy off!!

In spite of the cold, we had a wonderful time full of excitement and laughter!!

We Did It! Wednesday Example

This is an example of something you can post for We Did It! Wednesday.

We literally did this today because of time issues we ran into! We had a good time making these cute wax hearts, and really liked the end results!!

They are easy, but do take a little more time than I thought they would, probably because of cutting the hearts out.

The picture below shows what we used to make them. The cookie cutters can be found at WalMart and Michael's for around $2.

Martha Stewart recommends using kraft paper but I didn't have any so I used a little better quality gift wrap. Oops...you need a pencil sharpener, too.

You can get the tutorial by going to www.marthastewart.com and looking for Valentine's crafts and decor. Tried to link the page, but it didn't work.

What we used:

My Maddy!!

Made crayon shavings

Ironed them between 2 sheets of wax paper, with gift wrap on top and bottom


Traced cookie cutter heart onto wax paper


Cut out heart


The dynamic duo!!

All finished!! We hung the hearts in the breakfast nook window!
